Knowledge and technology transfer

Knowledge and technology transfer is a priority area at Aarhus University. Department of Engineering supports this through several types of knowledge transfer, thereby helping to ensure that the knowledge developed in the research environments also comes to the benefit of society.

The department strives to ensure that highly specialised knowledge is applied in practice and works systematically to create and promote commercialisation potential in the research. This requires close relationships with the industry and a subtle insight into the innovation requirements of companies - both the large multinational companies with their own R&D departments and the small enterprises defined by fast and continuous technological development.

Department of Engineering also carries out research projects for the Danish Centre for Food and Agriculture (DCA) which is responsible for public sector consultancy in the food and agriculture area.

In the section, you can read more about research and development collaboration, student collaboration and the department's contribution to public sector consultancy.

Communicating research findings
Communicating research findings is an important part of the department's strategy. Research findings are used actively in the engineering education at all levels, and the department has a high level of dissemination in relation to collaborations with private companies, other universities and partners. Research results are also published in scientific journals and as patents.

In addition, the department makes its knowledge available via technical journals, newsletters, further education, publication series and through exhibitions and lectures.

At national, level the dissemination activities include topic days on topics such as robot technology in agriculture, field trips, open house arrangements and presentations of practical results of the research at annual meetings and trade fairs.

At international level, the researchers actively participate in and often also organise conferences and workshops.
