Structural Engineering and Mechanics

Research and research-based education within structural engineering and mechanics focuses on development of novel methods and application of state-of-the-art techniques for computational and experimental analysis as well as hybrid testing of civil structures, construction materials and soil. This includes monitoring and system identification as well as stochastic analysis and reliability-based methods. Emphasis is placed on complex interaction and multi-physics problems related to ground vibration and building acoustics, advanced building structures and materials, offshore structures, wind turbines and great bridges. The research is motivated by a desire to develophighly efficient techniques meeting the requirements of industry and academia to provide fast but accurate analyses as well as safe and reliable designs of civil structures.
