Dynamics Laboratory

Instruments

The Dynamics Laboratory includes three electromagnetic vibration tables with a single degree of freedom and related sensors for calibration of translatoric motions.

For large amplitude, low frequency movements, a 6-degree of freedom hexapod is available for handling specimens up to 1800 kg exposed to acceleration levels up to 1 g.

The system is used for offshore wave experiments, lift and wire systems and earth quake simulations. Mechanical systems with operator-in-the-loop configurations like aeroplanes, vehicles, agriculture and entrepreneurial equipment can be tested dynamically and visualised as an interactive simulation on a 3D-tracked stereoscopic visualisation system.

The visualization system is a single 5 m wide screen equipped with hardware, head-tracking and active stereo glasses used to inspect advanced geometries and mechanical systems synthesised in computer- aided design software.
