Abstract
Assoc. Prof. Chmielarz interests concerns electrochemically mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (eATRP) methods, aimed at receiving polymers of a varied structure and architecture. His achievements in chemical science domain were as follows: an optimization of the reaction system both from the point of view of choosing appropriate conditions during electrolysis and simplification of the mentioned system by means of designing the reaction setup working in constant current conditions and replacing the traditional counter electrode with a „sacrificial” electrode (simplified electrochemically mediated type of ATRP (seATRP)). Particularly important is also his contribution to the elaboration of an original concept of polyacrylates, polymethacrylates and polyacrylamides syntheses as well as block copolymers, star (co)polymers and densely grafted (co)polymer brushes from cellulose, silica nanoparticles and silicon wafers. The above-mentioned polymer materials synthetized by the eATRP/seATRP method create potential possibilities of using them as wastewater treatment and oil recovery coagulant agents, biomaterials of an increased hydrophobicity (biocompatible implants in the tissue engineering, hydrophobic antimicrobial coatings), as well as precursors of polyelectrolyte star polymers (drug carriers in the form of appropriately formed  micellar structures).

Biography
Assoc. Prof. Pawel Chmielarz works at Rzeszow University of Technology in Department of Physical Chemistry. He spent two research internships in the group of prof. Matyjaszewski at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA (in 2014 and 2016).

Assoc. Prof. Chmielarz scientific achievements includes 42 publications in international journals and 2 patent application in US Patent Office. Total Impact Factor of published work is 158 (Web of Science).

He specializes in issues related to the synthesis of polymers using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) methods, including electrochemical methods  - electrochemically mediated atom transfer radical polymerization (eATRP).
