Operations Management

ABOUT THE RESEARCH GROUP

The research in the Operations Management group includes topics like operations analysis, operations planning (mission planning, task scheduling and allocation), operations optimisation, supply chain management, fleet management, information modelling, design of information management systems, and cost-benefit analyses.

Key methodologies involve mathematical/physical models, modelling, optimisation methods (linear programming, graph theory, etc.), decision support systems for operations and task management, Quality Function Deployment, Soft Systems Methodology, etc.

Key USB-areas include information engineering (data capture, data management, real-time data processing, decision optimisation, uncertainty modelling), automation engineering (systems engineering, higher level machine learning (semantic description) of the environment, robust motion planning algorithms with focus on reduction of computational complexity, motion planning based on multiple dimensions and constraints, decision support systems) and sustainability engineering (multi stakeholder analysis, technology assessment, life cycle assessment, risk analysis, scenario building, system design).
